In a recent collaborative initiative, students from the Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and Automation program and the Mechatronic Engineering program at Guilin University of Technology embarked on a 15-day internship at Guilin Guiye Machinery. The program reflects the company's ongoing commitment to industry-academia integration and joint talent cultivation, offering students a valuable opportunity to bridge classroom theory with hands-on manufacturing experience.
The internship opened with a welcome briefing delivered by Mr. Xie, Vice General Manager of the Technology and Quality Department, who walked the students through the company's background, milestones, and the structure of the upcoming program. A thorough safety training session followed, marking the official start of their immersive learning journey.

Led by Engineer Sun of the Technology and Quality Department, the students were taken on a comprehensive tour of the production facilities. The walkthrough covered the overall workshop layout, a wide range of machining and heat treatment equipment, and an in-depth introduction to Guiye Machinery's signature product lines — including cubic hydraulic presses and rock drills — giving the students a tangible and immersive understanding of industrial manufacturing in action.

Building on the workshop tour, Engineer Sun delivered a detailed lecture centered on the cubic hydraulic press, exploring its evolution, core capabilities, and diverse application scenarios. Through this session, students gained deeper insight into Guiye Machinery's journey — a story shaped by relentless technological innovation and decades of dedicated commitment to the industry.

Drawing from his own years of hands-on experience, Engineer Long of the Technology and Quality Department engaged the students in a candid discussion covering the control system design, assembly, and after-sales servicing of cubic hydraulic presses. Beyond the technical content, he generously shared lessons from his professional path, offering the students valuable wisdom and practical guidance as they prepare to step into their own careers.

In a hands-on session, Engineer Sun of the Technology and Quality Department joined Master Wei, an experienced lathe operator, to teach the students how to interpret mechanical drawings. The two walked the students through essential concepts such as dimensioning, tolerance specifications, and technical requirements — bridging classroom theory with the precision demanded on the factory floor.

In a hands-on demonstration, Supervisor Xie of the Technology and Quality Department guided the students through a live precision measurement of the hinge beam — one of the most critical components of the company's signature cubic hydraulic press — using a portable coordinate measuring machine (CMM). Watching the measurement unfold in real time, the students gained a tangible appreciation of how geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) underpins quality and reliability in advanced manufacturing.

Vice General Manager Xie of the Technology and Quality Department led the students in a close-up observation of the heat treatment process for the hinge beam — one of the most critical components of the cubic hydraulic press. From the initial heating and furnace discharge to water quenching, oil cooling, and final tempering, the students followed every stage of this transformative process. As one of the cornerstones of modern mechanical manufacturing, heat treatment revealed itself in full force — a striking display of fire, precision, and craftsmanship that left a lasting impression on every student present.

The 15-day internship was built around a carefully structured, hands-on curriculum designed by Guiye Machinery. Mentored by engineers from the Technology and Quality Department alongside experienced master craftsmen on the production floor, the students immersed themselves in every stage of the mechanical manufacturing journey — from initial design and rough machining, to heat treatment, precision machining, assembly, and final commissioning.
More than a milestone in the partnership between Guilin University of Technology and Guiye Machinery, this program gave students the opportunity to translate classroom knowledge into real-world capability — sharpening their professional skills and equipping them with the confidence to step into industry. At the same time, it laid a stronger foundation for joint talent development and technical exchange between the two institutions.
Looking ahead, Guiye Machinery and Guilin University of Technology will continue to deepen their collaboration, committed to nurturing a new generation of skilled, industry-ready engineers — and contributing lasting value to the future of mechanical manufacturing.
